THIS IS ME

International Group Exhibition

  • August 31, 2021 - September 30, 2021
  • THIS IS ME, International Contemporary Self-Portrait Exhibition

Exclusively Online: The Art House Gallery / www.thearthouse.us

Deadline to Apply: August 26, 2021

    Exhibit Dates: September 1-30, 2021

Curated by Rebecca George, CEO/Curator, The Art House Gallery

Exhibit Description: The representation of the Self is arguably the most explored subject in the history of visual art. Introspective seeking of ”who am I?" combine with the lifelong quest of “looking for myself” to capture the realness in any given moment.

The contemporary self-portrait can be traditional representation of a person in a space, and it can also venture far into the non-representational arenas between the recognizable and the abstract. Some artists consider abstraction to be a portrait, for example, “the mark I make today is a representation of myself”. Self-portraits can look like the artist's mirror image AND/OR be a representation of the inner landscape.

THIS IS ME is a curated group exhibition that takes a contemporary look at the wide range of approaches to the self-portrait, featuring the diversity, vulnerability and risk artists demonstrate when they reveal their Self.

BENEFITS TO THE ARTIST: This online exclusive exhibition includes a press release announcing the artists selected and a paid/promoted exhibition announcement/exhibit link on Google and social media @thearthousegallery. Accepted work for open calls will not be offered for sale through The Art House Gallery, but will link the viewer to your page of choice (your artist website, social media account and/or email address) so that viewers may contact you directly to purchase. Additionally, your artwork is featured both in a curated exhibit and individually on its own page where viewers can zoom in and see your work in a viewing room, including the function of uploading an image of a room in which to “see” the artwork. No artwork by another artist is shown on the page with individual works.
