The inspiration for this small scale abstract mixed-media collage is jazz music and it’s origins. Jazz music’s origins include, but are not limited to when Black folks freely began sharing our creative talents and chose, among many ways, to express our struggles and triumphs through music. Images of several respected and talented male and female jazz musicians are collaged on an album of recorded speeches that include “Liberty Or Death” by Patrick Henry, 1775; “The Gettysburg’s Address” by Abraham Lincoln, 1863; and “Farewell to His Troops” by Robert E. Lee, 1865.
