A skin-sparing double mastectomy left the skin over my breasts intact yet removed the breast tissue, nipples and areola along with hundreds of nerve endings meant to carry pleasure signals to my brain. "Tit * ti * late is a collection of visual art love letters reminiscing moments of arousal from nipple play lost to breast cancer. Along with presenting 20+ works of art, the artist and four dear friends will reflect on their identity as a breast cancer survivor. Proceeds from the show will benefit Lonnie Bush's "Celebration of Life" Foundation.
Stasi Bobo-Ligon is a contemporary American artist born and raised in Kansas City, KS. After graduating from the University of Missouri in Kansas City with a B.A. in Business Administration Stasi married and moved to Chicago, IL. She's spent the last 30 years working in Corporate America, married and raising a family. Responding to a deep-seated need to engage in artmaking, Bobo-Ligon began studying at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and The Art House Studio Gallery under the instruction and guidance of Contemporary American Painter, Rebecca George. Soon after, Stasi earned a coveted position in The Art House's Artist-in-Residence Program, where her art practice thrived and evolved. Stasi's studio practice currently focuses on abstraction, found objects and collage. Her studio practice, "The Emancipation of Henri", aka E.Henri, is named in remembrance of her paternal grandfather, a talented and artistic stone mason, who loved to assemble found objects into playthings for his grandchildren. Along with Assemblage, other influences include Abstract Expressionism, Neo-expressionism, and Folk Art. Stasi has been in multiple exhibitions, including online exclusive shows on Artsy.net and a number of publications. She is represented by The Art House Gallery collective of artists.
