"Battle Born Cutter" is a portrait that the artist painted from memory of a down and out cowboy heading to Reno, Nevada.
The artist was traveling from Dallas back to Reno and he saw this character in the airport. Although there are a lot of cowboys in Texas, they all looked like they stepped right off the runway or out of photo shoot.
Then the artist saw this guy waiting to fly back to Northern Nevada (The Battle Born State). He was filthy dirty, looked like he had not eaten in a week, and he had a 1000 yard stare that would cut right through you.
This painting is acrylic on canvas and it was influenced by the palette of Otto Dix.
