“Portrait of a Figure”: my Self Portrait with Purple Gloves, an image painted with rapid strokes and expressionistic tones reveal the narration and casually the cause. Consequentially the totality of the elements appear to emerge from unconventional ideas as much as from art history. The painting is an emergent field where consciousness and unconsciousness compete to create substance and colour in an idealized space.
The figure is fortuitously inspired by great artist from the past: Courbet, Dolci, Botticelli, Von Stuck. It is the experience and observation from the vast archive of images from art history, it is the self-identification and the natural desire to converse with the great masters of this “iconography”, from the depths of my soul, not beyond different identities, identifying myself, camouflaging myself.
