Description of the “IS” Open Call Series

What appears at first glance to be overly simplistic or repetitive, upon further reflection, can encompass ideas and experience rich with complexity. The themes in the “IS” open call series are intended to be open ended, open to all interpretations. The final curation will reveal a contemporary global ‘snapshot collection’ of each theme in the series.

Love Is Love

Anyone telling their love story knows: love is love. But love applies in larger contexts as well, outside of an interpersonal relationship. What do you know to be true about love? What questions about love reside deeply in you? What story does your art tell? This exhibition will share a contemporary snapshot of how artists all over the world create work on the subject of love.
